It was a horror day on Ararat’s roads today with four separate vehicle accidents.
One man was killed this morning at Armstong which closed the Western Highway between Ararat and Great Western, in both directions.
A second accident involving four vehicles led to the Western Highway being closed on the other side of Ararat – between Ararat and Ballarat – around midday.
The closures continue to be a headache for locals and tourists who are being directed onto alternative routes, some having to use back roads that are not used to heavy traffic.
Victoria Police said earlier that the highway will be reopened when it is safe to do so.
AC News has the details below regarding each of the three accidents that followed the deadly Armstrong crash this morning.
CALTEX ROADHOUSE ACCIDENT

“Following that, the third vehicle then veered onto the incorrect side of the highway and crashed into an oncoming eastbound car,” Victoria Police told AC News.
Occupants of the eastbound vehicle, a man and a woman, have both been conveyed to hospital with serious injuries.
The male driver of the third car also conveyed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The highway remains closed in both directions on either side of Ararat.
All traffic Ararat bound is being detoured onto the Sunraysia Highway from Ballarat.
WARRAYATKIN ROAD ACCIDENT
Emergency services responded to a third incident on Warrayatkin Road in Ararat, 5km West of the Western Highway this afternoon around 1:25pm.
