Do you know an outstanding volunteer who should be recognised?

Ararat Rural City Council is seeking nominations for volunteers and organisations who will be celebrated at an event later this month, during this year’s Volunteers Week.

Council has been holding the event annually to recognise dedicated community members who give so much of their time to help others and support important programs.

“This is a great opportunity to thank and show our gratitude to our local volunteers, who are the life-blood of our communities,” Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said

Volunteer Week is held nationally in May by Volunteering Australia to encourage communities to thank those who make a difference.

Dr Harrsion said the celebration will be held on Monday May 20 and include individuals and organisations being recognised for their special contributions in four categories: outstanding individual, outstanding community group, outstanding youth volunteer and outstanding event.

If you know a volunteer or organisation you can nominate them by obtaining a nomination form HERE or from the office at 59 Vincent Street. Nominations will close on May 15.

The celebratory event will be held on Monday May 20th from 6pm-7:30pm at the Alexandra Oval Community Centre.

A light supper will be provided – the council asks people to RSVP with the names of those attending by May 16 to rhemley@ararat.vic.gov.au
