Western Highway reopened after a heavy vehicle collision

Two B Doubles and a car were involved in a serious accident near Harvey Lane last night, closing the highway in both directions.

Two trucks were leaking large amounts of diesel which was the CFA’s major focus.

A ‘large quantity’ of sand was called for as emergency services struggled to stop fuel from spreading across the road.

Three people – a woman in her 50s, a man in his 20s and a man in his 60’s – were treated at the scene and taken to hospital in a stable condition according to Ambulance Victoria.

The Western Highway has been reopened this morning after a detour was put in place overnight via Pomonal and Moyston.

The speed limit has been reduced to 40 kilometers and will stay that way throughout today.
