One person has been charged and an investigation is underway, after an alleged assault in Ararat on Friday.
Police are appealing for information regarding an incident which is believed to have occurred between 9am and 10am, near the intersection of Minton and Hewitt streets.
A man and woman were in a vehicle when they became involved in an altercation. A mobile phone was thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle before the car came to a stop near a park on Hewitt Street.
‘The woman was allegedly assaulted both verbally and physically outside the vehicle,’ a statement from Victoria Police said.
A 50-year-old man has been charged in relation to the alleged incident, remanded to appear at Ararat Magistrates’ Court on 8 July.
A green 1999 Mazda wagon was believed to be involved, with investigators keen to speak with anyone who was in the area.
Police do believe a woman, described as having grey hair, may have been in the vicinity.
