Western Highway collision near Buangor leaves two with minor injuries

Emergency services attended a motor vehicle collision on the Western Highway near Pope Road, Buangor this morning after a fatal crash last night between Horsham and Dimboola.

Three cars were travelling in a westerly direction on the Western Highway when the first vehicle struck a kangaroo around 10.30am. A second vehicle following the first slowed down, causing the third vehicle to collide into the second’s rear.

Emergency services slowed traffic down at the scene but did not close any section of the highway.

A 64-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 35-year-old Mt Pleasant man is assisting police with their enquiries.

Ararat’s CFA also responded to a car which was smoking, brought under control at 11am.

Victoria Police said the investigation is ongoing.
