Improvement work on local business façades such as painting, minor repairs, and new signage will be funded by the Ararat Rural City Council on a dollar-for-dollar basis, under a new grants program.
Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison said the improvement scheme will help owners and operators of businesses to update shop fronts. The whole program’s aim is to improve the overall look of our town’s shopping precinct.
Businesses in a commercial area of a town with a street frontage in the Ararat Rural City is eligible for the grants, they will supply up to $5000 on a $1:1 basis.
“If your shop front is looking tired, needs new signage, or has some maintenance needs, this is the perfect opportunity to help fund the work,” he said.
“Council is encouraging all eligible businesses to apply for the grant, and we hope this will go a long way in helping improve the overall look of our commercial areas.”
Possible improvements include:
- Painting the façade,
- Cleaning the façade,
- Removal of redundant signage air conditioning units or hoardings,
- Minor repairs maintenance or reinstatement of missing elements,
- Minor repairs to structural façade elements and awnings,
- New repairs and replacements of verandahs,
- Installation of new signage, and
- Installation of store lighting visible from the street.
According to Dr Harrison, successful applicants need to finish the work in this financial year and would be reimbursed for work completed.
