VCAL personal development students in the foundation class are heading to Moyston Primary School to run a tabloid sports/games day next Friday. There will be competitions and chances to build some teamwork and cohesion.
VCAL students will be enforcing the importance of being socially healthy by putting up posters around the primary school to try and educate the students about screen time.
The goal is to try to get students to stay off their screens and stay active, educating them about how much activity they should have per day versus how much screen time.
The VCAL students are hoping to show them some activities that are fun and what they could play at recess and lunchtime at school, rather than sitting on their screens and playing games.
“We have had run-throughs of the games to make sure they are suitable for their age. We have had to plan the day, the activities and the prizes,” VCAL Student Grace Simpson said.
“There will also be prizes for the winners. They will all be working together to get points for their team,” fellow student Carly Sporton said.
“Whichever team has the most points at the end gets a prize but we’re also going to give something to everybody for participating.”
The students are also looking forward to building relationships with students who are coming to Ararat College next year, whilst working on their own communication skills.
