Do you want to help guide regional climate adaptation?

An opportunity has arrived for the community to help guide action and investment for change in climate adaption by being a part of developing the Regional Climate Adaptation Strategy.

Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) Community and Partnerships Program Manager, Geoff Miller said the aim of the Regional Climate Adaptation Group is to build a shared understanding of regional expectations in climate change.

The group will encourage regional action, innovation and ownership and ensure that climate adaptation initiatives support regional communities.

“We recognise that the impacts of climate change on communities differs depending on where you live in the region and so, we are looking for expressions of interest to form groups in both the Wimmera and Central Highlands,” Miller said.

“Members of the group will be expected to engage with their community, organisation and networks to ensure a community-led approach to adaptation planning.”

“They will work collaboratively with other RCAG members to oversee the development of the Grampians Regional Climate Adaptation Strategy and dedicate around one day per month for meetings and engagement with stakeholders.”

The group will play an important part in combining annual action plans and strategy of climate adaption to the needs and aspirations of community, business and key regional stakeholders.

Expressions of interest can be sent to Geoff Miller for the Wimmera RCAG or Tim Hudspith for the Central Highlands RCAG. Submission close November 4.
